Is Vasthu Compliance necessary before buying a Flat?

Nowadays, rather than individual houses apartments are becoming more common. With the less spaces left in the cities for spacious houses with backyards and for garden, more prefer to settle in luxury apartments with all the amenities necessary for the modern city life. Home is the place where we can relax after the busy work schedule. And most of the flat or apartments offer common amenities where you and your kids can enjoy the outdoor activities. Staying at the apartment is not only a better option but safer too.
But before you buy an apartment or flat, is it essential to check the vasthu compliance? Whether you are buying individual houses or property or flats, vasthu compliance should be checked. Many builders’ promises, but only few builders in Trivandrum put this old architectural science into practice. So, at the time of buying a flat, you need to be a little careful to check whether the design is vastu-compliant or not.
Vasthu is actually a science that gives information on the different aspects of laws of nature and how they affect man and his home. It is the different elements of nature including air, water, light, fire, space and directions that govern our lives and when used correctly, it helps to create happy, healthy and prosperous homes. Unlike houses and villas, it’s not always possible to practice all the principles of Vasthu in apartments or flats.  Very few say that Vasthu doesn’t really need to be applied to apartments. And it should be applied only to the ground floor as they only eventually touch the ground. But in real, since apartments have common walls that eventually touch the ground, checking the Vasthu compliance is applicable to all apartments.
Though constructing an apartment as per Vasthu is little different since they share walls with adjacent homes, and making little difficult as per Vasthu guidelines. Some of the Vasthu guidelines that can be incorporated in the apartment complexes include,
  •         The building should have a regular shape, such as a square or rectangle.
  •          The complex shouldn’t be built on a T-junction.
  •          Neither should it be built at the end of the road.
  •          Every room should have four walls.
  •         The main door to the apartment should be bigger than the rest of the doors in the apartment.
  •         Rooms in the northern part of the apartment should be bigger than those in the southern part.
  •        Windows should be 3-4 feet above ground level and must have same level from the ceiling downwards too.
  •         Construct or choose a flat/apartment having entrance in North, East or North-west. Avoid main door in South, South-west or South-east.
  •          Avoid purchasing flats with cuts in North-east or South-east direction.
  •         Drainage pipes should have their way in West, North or North-west.
  •          Slope of balcony should be towards the East or North.
  •         Check out the North-east corner of flat as this portion must be converted into worship room or left open.
  •         Kitchen should be in the South-east direction.
  •         Check or construct over-head tank in South-west and underwater tank in North-east.
  •          The kitchen shouldn’t face the front door, but preferably face east.
  •          Though there are numerous Vastu guidelines, it’s not possible to apply all of them to apartments; even if it’s 70%-compliant, count yourself lucky as you are onto a good thing!
